Wesley Wong's Amazing Glass Mosaics

Updated: Jun 10, 2022

Wesley's glass mosaic installation at Clarion has brought much joy and admiration from many visitors, especially the children of the theater program. After a three month run, it is sad to see these beautiful pieces go. However we're grateful and honored to have Wesley's art at the Galeria and hope to present more of his art in the future. See Wesley's artist statement below:

Wesley R. Wong is an award-winning artist who designs and produces custom glass art from his studio in San Jose, California. His passion for glass started in 1981 with stained glass, which eventually lead him into mosaics and fused glass. His work features lots of bright colors and intricate designs and has been exhibited in many juried glass and mosaic shows throughout the United States. Wesley enjoys sharing his glass knowledge with other artists and teaches glass workshops at the annual Glass Craft and Bead Expo in Las Vegas, and at various studios around the U.S. and Australia. He has written articles for Glass Patterns Quarterly, and is a member of the Association of Stained Glass Lamp Artists (ASGLA), and Society of American Mosaic Artists (SAMA).

During the COVID-19 lockdowns, Wesley revived his juggling skills, a hobby that began in the 1980s but had gone dormant for over 30 years. Wesley recently published his father’s memoir, titled Mr. Chinatown: The Legacy of H.K. Wong. His father was a prominent businessman and civic leader in San Francisco Chinatown during the 1930s to 1980s, and was selected in 1987, by the San Francisco Examiner for their centennial issue, as one of the most memorable San Franciscans of the previous 100 years.
