Thank you for putting together such a thoroughly heart-felt show! It was not only relatable and made me proudly feel the need to pass the torch on Cantonese, but also the discoveries: the story of Caridad, how welcoming my mother tongue as evidenced by the musings in Clara's poems, the variety of humor, artistry and sensibilities Cantonese allows - between an ancient poet and modern playwright like Chong. This was eye opening and I teared up from the beginning, and then a few more times. ~Joanne Wu

What an amazing event canto pride is! I feel so grateful to you and everyone who made it possible. I'm not sure I've ever been able to bring my mom to something that she could truly see herself in. Art that is really for her. For Cantonese culture.
It's different from film. Theater feels so much more alive. I was a little nervous that the ghost play (my favorite!) was too on the nose and would trigger her. A good problem to have. It's the first time I felt like I was in Hong Kong or somewhere seeing contemporary theater. Also I loved how it was educational (mahjong!) and featured cantonese language in full effect. How empowering and fun I imagine it was for the kids. ~Lorrie Chang
