About the Event

A Q&A will be moderated by Jeff M. Giordano.

Arrested at 16 and tried as an adult for kidnapping and robbery, Eddy Zheng served over 20 years in California prisons and jails. Ben Wang’s BREATHIN’: THE EDDY ZHENG STORY paints an intimate portrait of Eddy—the prisoner, the immigrant, the son, the activist—on his journey to freedom, rehabilitation, and redemption. Watch the transformative film named best documentary at CAAMFest, the Austin Asian American Film Festival, and Justice on Trials Film Festival!

Ben Wang is the director of “BREATHIN’: THE EDDY ZHENG STORY,” winner of awards at CAAMFest, the Austin Asian American Film Festival, and Justice on Trials Film Festival.  His previous films - AOKI (2009) and MAMORI (2013) - screened at over a dozen film festivals and events. Wang also co-edited the book, “Other: An API Prisoners’ Anthology," the first book featuring writings and artwork of incarcerated API community members.
